I’m currently obsessed with ethics. How do we build ethical systems in real time and what do we do when our personal frameworks clash with other people’s? I find the inevitable fissures fascinating and terrifying. I am especially interested in how we act within public plazas, or ‘agoras:’ civically-resonant spaces such as town squares, libraries, and parks. My work (video, sculpture, text) draws on my background as a public broadcaster – essentially, being a voice for hire - and my concurrent history of helping build non-hierarchical cohorts using strategies learned from sound art. Lately, however, I’ve realized that my utopian desires are more skeptical than assured; people are bewildering.
